In honor of Argentina’s national football team’s win at the World Cup, The Empanada’s Box will be giving away free empanadas Friday, Dec. 23 at their Pike Street restaurant in Covington.
Co-owners Diego, Fabiana and Lucas Nunez are from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and make authentic Argentinian empanadas inspired by flavors from around the world. Their home country of Argentina beat France 4-2 in the World Cup final Sunday, Dec. 18.
“We are so proud of Argentina and Lionel Messi for bringing the World Cup back home to our country,” Diego Nunez said in a press release. “We thought, what better way to celebrate than by inviting everyone in Cincinnati to try an authentic dish from Argentina.”
The restaurant will be handing out a free empanada and a cup of their house-brewed yerba mate, a traditional South American tea, to each customer starting at 11 a.m. Friday until they sell out. No purchase is necessary.
