You've heard of Christmas in July, so why not Christmas in October?
Not all seasonal brews this time of year need to involve pumpkin and Platform Beer Co. is proving the point with two holiday beer releases: Yule Jude Hazy IPA and the South Pole Elf Christmas Ale.
Yule Jude — which Platform calls an "anti-holiday holiday ale" — is described as "the winter counterpart of Platform’s popular Haze Jude Hazy IPA," with blood orange and cinnamon.
“Who says we can only drink dark, sweet, spiced-up beer all holiday season? We’re starting a whole new Christmas tradition this year. We present, Yule Jude,” says Paul Benner, co-founder of Platform Beer Co. “Based on our popular Haze Jude recipe, this Holiday, enjoy a Hazy, juicy, hopped-up, full-bodied libation with a touch of cinnamon.”
Also new this year is the South Pole Elf Christmas Ale. Per Platform, "Malty sweetness gives way to spicy gingersnap cookies and all the holiday spices you can handle. Nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon mask the bold 8% ABV that will have you warming up by a fireplace."
Both beers are available in a special Holiday Twelve pack (like the 12 days of Christmas?) — six of each type.
The Platform holiday brews are on sale now at retailers in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky (plus New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania). You can also get them for home delivery in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati.
Platform's LOCOBA tasting/taproom is located at 1201 Main St., Over-the-Rhine. More info: platformbeer.co.
