No, not the Peppers — the acclaimed Scottish bagpipe-fueled band, who will perform at Clifton's Ludlow Garage in August

Red Hot Chilli Pipers

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are coming to Cincinnati this summer.

If you misread that sentence, don't feel too bad — it has (famously) happened before. More on that in a sec.

Though they're not the world-famous Funk Rock group that recently welcomed former guitarist John Frusciante back into the band, they are world-renowned and they have a Rock spirit — albeit one fueled by bagpipes. And they're bringing their entertaining live show to Clifton's Ludlow Garage in August.

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are a Scottish ensemble that describes its sound as "Bagpipe Rock." The group — which features bass, drums, guitar and multiple bagpiper players — performs instrumental, ’pipe-driven arrangements of popular Rock and Pop tunes, from Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls" to Coldplay's "Clocks" and Avicci's "Wake Me Up."

It might not be the Peppers but it does look like a lot of fun. That's something a couple in the U.K. found out in 2018, in a mix-up that went viral.

A man named Duncan Robb was excited because he'd found cheap tickets to an Irish concert by what he thought were the Red Hot Chili Peppers, one of his girlfriend's favorite bands. You can see where this is headed… a few days before the gig, they inspected their tickets a little more closely and discovered it was the Pipers.

Undeterred (and because they'd already made arrangements for their trip to Ireland), they went to the show anyway and seemed to have a great time.

If you want to experience the Scottish band for yourself, tickets are on sale now for their Aug. 21 visit to Clifton's Ludlow Garage. Visit ticketmaster.com for tickets, which range from $25-$50 — which is more than $300 less than what it currently costs to see that other band at the Boston Calling festival in May, the Peppers' only announced U.S. date so far in 2020.
