Get Down with the Greentree Groove

The Lebanon-based up-and-comers at the All-Nighter Studio want to set your everlovin' music mind spinning this upcoming weekend. They've brought together an impressive array of jammy, funky, folksy and twangy groups for a two-day music festival they're calling Greentree Groove. —-

Organizer Kevin Muro says the goals are twofold: to both showcase local (and one regional) bands and to get the word out on All-Nighter, a "state-of-the-art, digitally based recording facility that provides low-cost recording and engineering to musicians and artists," according to a press release. So the first-annual fest will serve as a sort of coming-out party for All-Nighter and the groups who record there.

The "family-friendly" event, which will be held on roughly nine private acres in Lebanon, features on-site camping and volleyball, cornhole, a swimming pool, food concessions (although you're invited and encouraged to pack a cooler and picnic basket in order to stay fully nourished) ... and—not to worry—Port-o-Lets.

You probably want to read about who's playing now. Well, without further adieu:

Friday (bands start at 6:20 p.m.): Future Sutures | Wild Mountain Berries | Sapience | Adagio Blue | Perfect Norm

Saturday (bands start at 3 p.m.): Tracy Walker | Drew LaPlante | Blue Shivers | Eazy | After Alms | Lucky | The Layers | Genuine Junk Band (from Ashland, Ky.)

If you haven't heard of a lot of those names, that's okay. That's what Greentree Groove's all about. Click on the links and check 'em out. Let's just say that if you're into what they call Roots, Americana and Bluegrass, or Funk, Jam and Rock, or just summer festival-type tunes, then you need to be there.

Admission is a very reasonable $5 per day or $10 for both days. The location: 4833 Greentree Road, Lebanon, Ohio 45036.
