Famed local sci-fi author J.M. Clark is taking things from fantasy to brick-and-mortar reality with the opening of The Tome Bookstore.

Located at 2123 Beechmont Ave. in Mount Washington, the Tome will feature "new and used books, as well as classes for children to learn to write their own stories, create characters, outline their own stories and more," says a press release. Helmed by Clark, the bestselling author of "The Palace Program" trilogy (New Kings of Tomorrow, Tomorrow’s Wrath and Tomorrow’s End), and his wife, Autumn Spencer, the Tome is "committed to promoting literacy and diversity while offering the community a place to gather and providing a space for creativity and expression," says the release.

“I wrote the trilogy to show how science fiction can be used to explore social issues and to promote diversity. Now, I'm excited about opening The Tome Bookstore and giving people of all ages an opportunity to learn more about writing and storytelling,” Clark says.

The grand opening is slated for April 18. The Tome Bookstore is located at 2123 Beechmont Ave., Mount Washington. Learn more at facebook.com/TheTomeBookstore.
