Holiday Season Haters and Lovers Unite for OTRimprov Comedy Show

A string of improv comedy shows coming to Arnold’s Bar & Grill is promising side-splitting laughter and delightful indulgence in seasonal cheer — or humbug — whichever stance you take on the holidays.

OTRimprov (OTRi) presents The Naughty List on Arnold’s patio for eight select dates in December. Arnold’s legendary space in downtown Cincinnati holds a cozy but spacious (and heated) patio with a balcony-like stage that OTRi will transform into “a magical world to celebrate everything you love, and love to hate, about the holidays,” according to a press release.

Like most improv acts, the audience helps shape the show and the OTRi improvisers are prepared to entertain everyone on Santa’s list, naughty or nice. The press release says a ticket purchase for The Naughty List is the only one in town that guarantees you’ll never see the same show twice. How would Santa deal with unexpected gift requests? How can OTRi reimagine classic holiday stories and scenes before your eyes?

OTRi Director Paul Wilson says the show is an experience only OTRimprov could provide.

“Seeing families and friends come back year after year, to have them talk about their favorite moments and what they love about the experience is incredibly satisfying,” Wilson said in the release. “And the people who discover us each year tell us how glad they are they found us and how they can’t wait to come back. All that and having it happen at Arnold's, an iconic and uniquely Cincinnati location, makes for a holiday tradition we are grateful to be a part of.”

Tickets are $20 for showings on Dec. 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Arnold’s will provide an a la carte menu with dinner, dessert and drinks. Ticket prices do not include food or drinks. Visitors can arrive up to 90 minutes before the show and must be inside by 7 p.m. to guarantee dinner service. The Naughty List cast in alphabetical order is: Kevin Bauer, BJ Casey, Eileen Earnest, Amanda Monyhan, Julie Locker, Alison Strickland Rampa and Alanna Turner-Palmer.

The self-described collaborative, curious and daring improv team is experienced in exploring a variety of styles and formats. OTRimprov began in 2010 and has been attracting like-minded and talented entertainers to produce its own shows ever since.
