A popular haunting event is returning this Halloween season, and it’s the perfect chance to lift the veil on the creepy and bizarre secrets hidden away in Northern Kentucky.

The Spooky Secrets Tour is returning to Covington for its third year with five dates Oct. 26-30. Each tour is two hours long, starting at 5:30 p.m., with two miles of walking from the Covington Riverfront to MainStrasse Village. Inspired by Kathryn Witt’s book Secret Cincinnati: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure, the tour highlights more than a dozen spooky locales along the way, including a number of “secrets” from the book, like the Baker-Hunt Art and Cultural Center, the Riverside Drive Statue Tour and Hail – Records and Oddities.

“One of Covington’s best-known arts landmarks, Baker-Hunt Art and Cultural Center, has stories of tragic deaths, seances and hauntings,” Witt said in a press release. “Listening to these stories on a lamplit street in the shadow of the building is particularly creepy.”

The tour is led by Jill Morenz, the president and CEO of Aviatra Accelerators, a local nonprofit that helps women entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses. Proceeds from the tour will go toward the nonprofit.

“We’ll tell ghost stories, visit haunted sites and share some of the area’s more gruesome history,” Morenz said in the release.

Attendees will also receive a signed copy of Secret Cincinnati and a special bookmark to check off their adventures (more than 80) as they complete them. Witt will also be at Hail – Records and Oddities on the opening night of the tour, Thursday, Oct. 26, where she’ll sign attendees’ books at the end of the tour. Participants will also get a coupon for Witt’s newest book, Cincinnati Scavenger: The Ultimate Guide to Cincinnati’s Hidden Treasures, when purchased at Hail.

Each Spooky Secrets Tour can accommodate up to 20 guests. Tickets are $30 and can be bought at Eventbrite.
