These daters are probably in Kentucky.

If you're single and ready to mingle, Ohio just might be the perfect state for you.

But Kentucky? Um, you might want to look elsewhere.

In finance personal website WalletHub's Best & Worst States for Singles list for 2022, Ohio comes in as No. 11 best state, juuuuuuust barely shy of the top ten.

To determine its rankings, WalletHub considers three categories for each state: dating opportunities, dating economics, and romance and fun.

Ohio is No. 8 for romance and fun, which observes a state's restaurants, attractions, music festivals and safety.

But the Buckeye State stumbles when it comes to the other two categories. For dating opportunities — which takes into account gender balance, online dating participation and COVID-19 vaccination — Ohio comes in at No. 21. The state fares a little better in dating economics, but the average cost for a date and the financial well-being of its residents only brings the state to No. 19.

Kentucky, on the other hand, is disastrous for dating. According to WalletHub's study, the Commonwealth lands at No. 45 out of the nation's 50 states, almost at the bottom of the list. It also comes in way down at No. 44 for dating opportunities (no big surprise, given Kentucky's months-long COVID-19 surge), No. 35 for romance and fun, and No. 26 in dating economics.

Perhaps to no one's surprise, California is the nation's best state for singles (even though it lands at No. 50 for dating economics), while West Virginia is the worst for those trying to score.

But, hey, Greater Cincinnati singles can always check out Dayton, Ohio, which was named one of the top-ten horniest cities in 2021. Just watch out for all the sexually transmitted diseases — after all, Ohio is No. 14 for gonorrhea and No. 22 for chlamydia.
